How much does Song Cage cost?

Is there a free version of Song Cage?

Yes. The web app is free with no card required, and it includes 14 days of full Pro when you sign up. The mobile capture apps for iPhone and Android are free and work offline without an account.

What happens when the 14-day Pro trial ends?

Nothing is deleted or locked. Every song you wrote stays fully editable and keeps playing back on the Free plan. What needs Pro after the trial is starting additional songs, PDF chord sheet export, and MIDI export.

Does the $69 desktop licence include cloud sync?

No. The $69 licence unlocks the native desktop app and the AU/VST3 plugin, and both run offline for life. Syncing those songs to the web and mobile apps, or across two computers, needs a Pro subscription on top.

What if I buy the licence and it turns out not to be for me?

Email us within 30 days and we refund it in full, no questions asked. The desktop app and plugin stop working once the refund goes through. Every song you wrote stays on your computer and stays yours.

Does a Pro subscription include the desktop app and the plugin?

No. Pro and the $69 licence are independent purchases, not steps on a ladder. Pro is the recurring plan for the web and mobile apps; the $69 licence is software you own outright. You can buy either, both, or neither.

Is the plugin sold separately from the desktop app?

No. One $69 purchase covers both the desktop app and the plugin, on both macOS and Windows. There is no separate plugin price.

Do I need Pro to use the mobile app?

No. The iPhone and Android capture apps are free and work offline with no account. Pro is what makes those captures sync to the web and desktop apps.

Is there still a Band tier?

No. The Band tier was withdrawn from sale on 31 July 2026 and its collaboration features are now part of Pro at no extra cost. Anyone who subscribed to Band before that date keeps their original price and terms.

Can I cancel anytime, and what happens to my songs?

Yes, you can cancel anytime from the Stripe billing portal. Paid features stay active until the end of the billing period, then the account reverts to Free. No song is ever deleted or locked, and everything you wrote stays editable.

Are there hidden fees, usage charges, or overage costs?

No. There are no usage-based charges, no per-song fees, and no overage costs. The prices listed are the whole cost, in US dollars, with applicable tax added at checkout.
